Grabbed this while urban exploring today
I did a shoot with some trapeze artist friends this past weekend. First up, Vivian Kyle again.
I met Scarlaa several years ago when she came to a play that I was in. She came with her best friend, who’s big brother was in the play too. I played one of Nicola Tesla’s assistants who steals time travelers beer and passes it out to the audience. Since this is not a blog about acting, you can guess how well my performing career went over.
The following year we got into the famous Clermont Hotel in Atlanta. It was our first shoot together, and we were getting to know each other as we shot. We soon found out we both thought the famously sleazy old place was awesome. We got a lot of great shots. Below is two of them.
As Rick said in Casablanca, “I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.” Since that evening at the Clermont I have shot thousands of pictures of her. She’s become a great friend, and is now engaged to another friend of mine.
Yesterday I posted a picture of Joesephine and mentioned the old Glidden paint factory where we had first tried to shoot. The place was torn down recently, but while it was standing it was awesome.
My friend Raven first showed me the place, after another photographer took her there. It was operational until about 1993, then sat abandoned for almost 20 years. It was full of rust and ruin and amazing graffiti.
This is from our first shoot there, in April of 2010. She’s an awesome model I hope to shoot with again soon. The paint factory is sadly now just a pile of rubble.
Josephine is one of the few people I met online before meeting in person. We had a great shoot planned last fall at the abandoned paint factory, that was cut shot by the arrival of several police cars. We were told that we were trespassing, and let go with a warning. Another photographer there was not so lucky. He had already been warned before, and was arrested.
It took us five months to finally reschedule a shoot, but when it finally happened we got some amazing shots. I’m sure i’ll be posting more of them in the coming weeks.
